For over a decade Ed has admired this special plant at Sakonnet Garden, and been twitching with anticipation. It arose as a spontaneous seedling, likely amurense x sikokianum, with the leaf shape and flower of the former, and prominent silvery stippling, presumably lent by the latter, as it would have been the only silver leaf overlapping in flower. It’s been sterile, offsetting vigorously - even small tubers have multiple growth points- is bone hardy, and has foliage that emerges early and lasts all season. As their annual open garden day is yet another covid casualty, we’re able to introduce this glorious plant with all funds going directly to Sakonnet Garden. Very limited availability.
