PP35105 We love the deciduous species of Bergenia. They’re so far removed from the usual preconceptions that people have about the genus that they most people don’t even recognize that they are Bergenia. There’s no bedraggled and brown spring foliage, and though they take a bit longer to launch into growth, once they kick in, they continue to produce new leaves throughout the growing season, becoming larger with each successive flush. Bergenia ‘Ripple Effect’ was selected here for heavily rippled margins on the red-reversed, great dane sized leaves. Tasteful white flowers that age into delicate pale pink make it a brilliant addition for shade, in compliment and contrast to all the usual or unusual suspects.
