Endemic to Mexico and Texas. Photos hardly do this plant justice, but the specific epithet (i.e. species name) is particularly apt. Though Z 8-11, it’s easily cultivated in pots, crates, and in the ground, dug when dormant and stored in a cool, dry spot. ~4-5 per sq ft. Plant in spring, staggering for later flowering from September - October. Couldn’t be easier, and this long lasting cut flower has somehow escaped the local flower farming scene. Sold as individual, dormant, flowering sized bulbs from our collection—seemingly the only US offering in the past few years.
