This is a bifid (i.e. forked) leaf clone that received from Darrel last century, and I recall the moment vividly as, master plantsman that he is, he had in flower in autumn at an Arnold Arboretum plant sale, and he charged $20 for a 2” pot, which I happily paid. Recent correspondence with Darrell about its origins reveal that it’s not a hybrid of his, and that, based on herbarium sheets of bid leaf caerulea, he doesn’t believe it’s a hybrid at all. We have nothing to contribute to his erudition, but will note that we don’t ever recall it setting seed in the years we’ve grown it. Z5, quart pot.
