We’ve been growing these hybrids since the last century, and can’t resist using the old name for this deliberate hybrid of what was known as Homoglossum (now Gladiolus) watsonianum and Gladiolus tristis. Delicate, spring flowering (March/April here in a cool greenhouse) with large flowers and slender foliage. Flower colors are variable, but all have more pigment than straight G. tristis, but all have the spicy evening fragrance. We’ve used this as a cut to great effect, but one key seems to be NOT putting them into a cooler. 3 bulbs per 3” pot.
