Hydrangea involucrata 'Yokudanka'
Hydrangea involucrata 'Yokudanka'
$20.00
Involucrata has the same tactile, felted foliage as H. aspera, the same exfoliating bark (albeit on a smaller scale), AND the great virtue of flowering on the current season’s growth. It’s also hardier than the usual literature suggests, easily into zone 6 (though it is susceptible to damage from late spring frosts) . ‘Yokudanka’ is a Japanese selection with fully double mophead flowers that expand in size in concert with color shifts: mint green to salmon to parchment, then returning to green. Needs some shade and adequate H20 during the growing season. These have topped out here at 4 x 4, but they could be maintained on a smaller scale by cutting back in spring. Quart pot
